Introduction
When you think about the most stunning places in the world, what comes to mind? For many, the answer is often a majestic mountain range, a vast ocean, or a flourishing rainforest. But what if we told you that there’s a hidden gem in the heart of Shillong that rivals all of these natural wonders? Yes, that’s right – the natural beauty of Shillong is something that must be seen to be believed.
As the capital of Meghalaya, one of India’s most beautiful states, Shillong offers a breathtaking array of landscapes and experiences that will make your heart skip a beat. From rolling hills and crystal-clear waterfalls to luscious greenery and fascinating wildlife.
The Majestic Laikyndon Falls
The Laikyndon (three-tier falls) waterfall is seemingly beautiful, with its water source from the 58 GTC making it unreachable by the locals to pollute it.
As the name suggests, the three-tier waterfall has three steps, one after the other, with a mini-natural pool created by the waterfall. The fall is located at the foot of Lummawsiang. To make this fall more entertaining, one must trek downhill a staircase of 415 steps in total and trek along the river to reach the falls. The untethered mountain by the side of the falls is lush with green flora, making it a habitat for many fauna, including birds, monkeys, tree leopards, and many more species. A trek to this place will lighten up your soul as it connects you with nature.
